Redesign of e-commerce website and meal delivery application.

The client, Simply Good Food (SGF), a meal delivery app aggregating several restaurants, approached Esokia for a complete overhaul of its platform. The main objective: move away from a limited SaaS model to adopt an independent, scalable infrastructure tailored to its specific business needs.

Why did the client choose Esokia?
Simply Good Food turned to Esokia to develop and migrate to an independent and customized web and mobile application aligned with its specific e-commerce requirements.

Issues encountered before intervention:
Initially, the platform operated on a SaaS model based on the JungleWorks solution, which limited its flexibility, scalability, and possibilities for both functional and technical customization.

Objectives set:
The main goal was clear: transition to an independent platform, allowing SGF complete autonomy in managing and evolving its website and ordering system.

Expected outcome:

  • Technological freedom to integrate new features at any time
  • Better responsiveness in technical and business adjustments
  • An optimized user experience on both web and mobile

The solution provided by Esokia :
Esokia implemented a tailor-made solution composed of several technological components:

  • A website allowing users to browse menus, place orders, and pay online
  • A back office (BO) based on a robust framework, enabling SGF to manage content, restaurants, products, and orders
  • A mobile application, developed independently, offering users a smooth experience to order and pay via smartphone

Technology used:
The technological choices were oriented towards high-performance and scalable tools:

  • Symfony and Sylius (e-commerce framework) for the back office, to benefit from modular and business-ready components
  • Next.js for the website front end, ensuring optimal performance on the user side
  • React Native for mobile application development, ensuring cross-platform compatibility with a fluid experience

Methodology adopted:
Given the functional complexity and numerous business use cases, the Agile Raison methodology was favored.
Each sprint was followed by a demo, allowing deliverables to be quickly adjusted based on client feedback. This approach allowed:

  • Progressive clarification of business rules
  • Optimization of collaboration between stakeholders
  • Continuous alignment with the objectives

Team structure:
The team mobilized by Esokia included:

  • Project manager: overall supervision, leading client workshops, drafting specifications, managing the schedule, and coordinating third parties (payment, delivery)
  • Technical lead: responsible for architecture and technical support for developers
  • Developers:

  • 2 back-end developers (Symfony/Sylius)
  • 1 front-end developer (Next.js)
  • 1 mobile developer (React Native)

  • QA tester: quality assurance, functional testing, and bug fixes

Internal testimonial:
"This project was a very enriching experience. I was able to deeply understand the business challenges of multi-restaurant delivery. The main challenges were grasping the client's expectations, ensuring the entire team was aligned on a shared vision, and effectively coordinating interdependent tasks, especially with external parties. Despite some ups and downs inherent to any large-scale project, this mission will remain a collective success and a great professional memory."

Results and benefits
The improvements achieved:

  • UI/UX enhancement
  • Multi-platform application (web and mobile – Android and iOS), leading to increased traffic and visibility
